Hi everyone! My name is Lauri Veltkamp, I’m 23 years old and I am the Chairman of this year’s EBF Conference Board. When I finished my high school in Twente, a region in the eastern part of the Netherlands, I couldn't wait to start studying in Groningen. Besides my studies, I became a member of the rowing association Gyas and I became active at the EBF in my first year already in the Marketing Committee. I really enjoyed the events and socials of the EBF so I decided to apply for the European Study Research Committee. During this committee year I organised a trip to Barcelona with other students, which is one of the best weeks of my student time. Next to being active at the EBF, I like to have some drinks with my friends, go to the gym and explore other cities!
I finished the bachelor International Business last year. During my bachelor's I went on exchange to Singapore, which was a challenging but unforgettable experience. Next year, I will finish the master International Financial Management and I will see what comes after that.
As chairman I have to make sure that everybody is working in the same direction, and jump in where extra help is needed. Being chairman of this board is a great experience because it allows me to be closely involved with every function, which makes my tasks very diverse. In addition to this, my function means that I am the point of contact for the different boards that give advice and supervision. I consider it a unique opportunity to work with such an ambitious team of fellow board members and of course the Day Organisation. I am already looking forward to the Conference on the 1rd and 2nd of October and hope to see you all there!
