Stefan Berger
Stefan Berger is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Groningen. He also holds Lecturer positions at the University of St. Gallen and at the University of Bern. Stefan’s research is focused on modern forms of collaboration, leadership, and organizational change. He usually studies these topics through a multi-level lens, aiming to bridge macro/organizational and micro/psychological views. His teaching covers a broad range of topics in the areas of organizational behavior and data analytics across the Bachelor, Master, and Executive levels.
Stefan’s research has been recognized through awards including two Academy of Management’s Best Dissertation-Based Paper Awards (OB), the Norbert-Thom Price for the Best Dissertation at Swiss Universities (HRM), or the Amicitia Price for the Best Dissertation in Economic Sciences (University of St. Gallen). Over his career, he has received more than EUR 700,000 in competitive funding and prices from public institutions, such as the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Dutch Research Council (NWO). His research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management.
Prior to joining the University of Groningen, Stefan was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of St. Gallen’s Institute for Leadership and HRM, where he helped to build the Center for Future Leadership and Work. Stefan holds a PhD in Strategy and Management from the University of St. Gallen and a MSc in Personnel Economics and Psychology from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
