Ilumimat

Dementia among the elderly is a common occurrence, with wandering being a significant aspect of it. This can be a very stressful experience for the family, care staff, and, of course, the wandering person themselves.

For this reason, I, together with three partners, have developed the Ilumimat.

I am Ruben Feenstra, and driven by my passion for entrepreneurship and healthcare, I hope to make a significant difference in elderly care on a large scale.

The Ilumimat is a pressure-sensitive mat that, through various detachable lights, offers a guiding path to the toilet or bathroom. When people with dementia wake up at night and are momentarily disoriented, this path provides guidance and reassurance about where they can go. This additional guidance helps reduce wandering in people with dementia, offering clear direction in a confusing situation.

We work closely with care institutions to ensure that the needs from the care sector are directly translated into the product.
