Heleen van den Berg
Heleen van den Berg is CEO of Cordaid since October 2023. Cordaid is the largest Dutch international NGO, with a history of more than 100 years. In her role, Van den Berg leads an organisation that operates in over 35 countries worldwide, often in the most challenging and fragile environments. Cordaid works in close collaboration with local partners, combining a dual mandate of humanitarian assistance and long-term international cooperation to strength health, agrifood as well as security and justice systems.
Van den Berg sees strengthening resilience as the heart of Cordaid’s mission: “In a world of growing inequality and uncertainty, we must invest in the resilience of people and systems.” She believes in partnerships where local actors genuinely lead in shaping their own future.
Before joining Cordaid, Van den Berg held several senior leadership positions, including head of the National Aid of the Netherlands Red Cross, as well as head of the marketing department of the Royal Dutch Touring Club ANWB.
She is also active in various cultural and international cooperation networks and advisory bodies. Her current non-executive roles include:
